MOSQUITOES

Mosquitoes,

with needle-noses
sucking blood
from elbows, cheeks, and chin

why were you not
designed to thrive
on brine, on swine,
or likewise-spiny
porcupines?

                            SLAP!
                      SLAP!
                                        SLAP!
