Weird doin's

Two very similar ledes in the local daily today:

• [Town near us, on a street where one of my coworkers lives] – Residents on [L] Avenue were on edge Monday as police searched for answers about why a young man [age 19] was left bleeding in the street Sunday night.


• [Town about 35 minutes from us]  – A teenager was taken by helicopter in fair condition to a trauma center Friday after he was found lying in the street with unknown injuries.

What the hell is going on? Is there some random car running kids down in our county? Or is this some new gang-related thing? Or just happenstance?
