I pray that all is well. Children are having lots of fun and progressing smoothly. Last Sunday, they were tested one by one by the conductor to see how much they memorized the song. The 1##3rd are arriving tomorrow morning!!! Just spoke to Chief H.... Buses will arrive approx 10:00am. Driving in on M-57, North on Lur@y, West on C@ss to the Armory on H!llcr#st. (Basically going around Veteran's Park). If you also want to visit the returning soldiers at the Armory, they will open the gate for parking at the fairgrounds. Come out and welcome our soldiers HOME!!!!

Because one really has to stop here when you see this sign, no? I didn't go in; Beast did. I stayed outside and took pictures, because I just oculdn't handle the schlock value. Beast was impressed. I'll bet they have good bathrooms.

Windmill farms have sprung up all across the plains, which is wonderful. However, you can't deny how spooky they are on the horizon.

This is scenery I grew up seeing as a child as we meandered around Wyoming and Colorado. This donkey is in Kansas, but otherwise it looks completely the same as the hundreds of others I've seen.

This is the view driving from Kansas to Colorado Springs. The road waaaaaay off in the distance is about 20 miles away, and still another 20 miles from the Spgs. Bor.Ring.Dri.Ving.

The Beaumont (duh) in Ouray. Our room was the third window from the left, where the curtain is open a bit. I can't imagine there's a boring or bad room in this place. And yes, the street is that steep. lol

I just arrived at work, and was flipping through my mail. I came across this envelope that looks very official, with an outline of our illustrious state. I'm thinking "tax stuff?" It's from some place called Personnel Concepts in Ontario, California, however, so I'm getting more and more confused. Near the bottom in large letters it says "Compliance update 2010." In bold lettering above my name it says:

INSIDE: 9 FEDERAL AND [STATE]
REGULATIONS AFFECTING YOUR EMPLOYEES
IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED

Below is my name--and it's actually correct!--followed by a comma and "Owner/Manager."

And I laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh...

Whoever opened the mail yesterday got a chuckle too, because the "Owner/Manager" is circled with red Sharpie.

Winter

Yesterday morning we awoke to a light snow on the ground and wind gusting all around the house. It seems to always be windy and ugly outside on Thanksgiving lately. Winter seems to have arrived--it was C O L D outside! Inside, all was warm and silly and fun and worth every minute of the work.

Of course I ate too much. Of course we have loads of leftover food. And the prospect of a new family business: fish pressing.

Yeah--laughed so hard I cried. lol
